Learn Piano
If you are beginning to learn how to play piano, the
following suggestions will be most helpful. The
first thing you need to do to is find a teacher who is qualified. Many people will try to tell you that you
can learn from a book, or by playing by “ear.” It certainly is possible to learn this way, but probably not to
learn well, and probably not to become an excellent pianist. You will learn quicker and better if you take lessons
from a certified piano teacher.
If you are thinking of starting your child on
piano lessons, do not make the mistake of taking lessons from a friend who plays, just to “try it out,” unless
of course the friend is a qualified teacher. If you child has a proficiency and decides to stick with it, they
will have a hard time unlearning bad habits they acquire from an unqualified teacher. Learn how to play piano
the correct way from the start and you will not regret it.
Practice,
practice
The second thing to do play piano
seems obvious, but it is where a lot of new students go wrong when starting piano. You need to practice
regularly! You are probably thinking “of course,” but manypeople take up an instrument and fail to make the
commitmentpractice as they should. Here are some tips to make the most of each practice session Practice at least twenty minutes a day. Also, do not practice when
you are tired or distracted if you can avoid it. Start each practice session with warm-up exercises. They
routinely work through the pieces you are learning.
Set Goals
When starting any new instrument,
and when you learn piano, it is important to set goals for yourself, but make those goals realistic. If you are
learning a new piece, set a certain amount of sections that you will learn every day, whether it be pages or
measures or lines. Keep these goals in line with your level of ability. Your teacher should be able to help you
set these types of goals.
Practice Sight Reading
It is important when you learn
how to play piano to work on sight reading skills. When you can read music easily, you will be able to learn
piano pieces quicker. Work on sight-reading by having some books that are at a slightly easier skill level, and
practice playing songs you have never seen before.
Finally, the last tip will help
your interpretation of musical pieces as you learn piano. If you can, read about the composer that you are
playing. As you understand their personality and their life, you will be able to interpret their music more
authentically. Learning about the composer will help you to approach their songs more
realistically.
As with most things in life,
becoming a great pianist takes dedication and perseverance. The skills a new pianist needs to learn piano will
not come over night. Spend time honing your skills, make a commitment not to quit, and soon you will be playing
piano with the best of them!
